Antiques in Outer Banks NC

Cotton Gin – For the feeling of an old-time country market, step into The Cotton Gin in the big, red barn-like building at the entrance to TimBuck II. Headquartered on mainland Currituck County, The Cotton Gin has been a coastal shopping tradition for more than 40 years. You’ll find resort fashions for women and men, fine jewelry, home accessories, collectibles, waterfowl carvings, books, cards, prints, even fine wine from the local Sanctuary Vineyards. 790 Ocean Trail, TimBuck II Shopping Village / 252.453.4446

Lighthouse Garden – In a restored village home, this is one of those stores that will certainly brighten your day. The interior itself is charming, with old doors, windows and shutters used as display stands and the original beaded board on the walls painted in old-fashioned colors. The floors creak under your feet as you wander around looking at beautiful home and porch décor such as silk florals, pillows, Guy Wolff pottery, furnishings, frames and so many other wonderful items. Carole happily features the work of more than 40 local artists, and you’ll find much to ooh and ahh over, from paintings and mixed media collage to jewelry, textiles, candles and soaps. Garden statuary, ironwork and architectural ornaments also fill the yard and the porches, lending to the rustic charm of the village itself. 1129 Corolla Village Road / 252.453.0171

Old Corolla Trading Co. – With a surprise around every corner, Old Corolla Trading Company has a tasteful and charming selection of gifts, accent furniture and accessories that includes lamps, local art and photography and much more. The relaxed ambience of the store makes the shopping experience a truly pleasant one, and you’ll have fun looking for that just right gift for loved ones back home. We love the StoryPeople prints and their terrific collection of reproduction signs. You’ll also find clocks, balance toys, salvage doorknobs and mirrors and recycled glass hurricanes. The shop motto “Never stop to think…do I have a place for this?” is hard to resist! 1129 Old Corolla Village Road / 252.453.9942

Spry Creek Dry Accents – Spry Creek is owned by lifelong Outer Banks resident Karen Whitfield and her husband, John. They have converted her father’s old auto repair shop into a surprising home accents shop. They kept the old bay doors and shop flooring for charm, and be sure to look for Karen’s father’s work bench, which came out of Penny’s Hill Lifesaving Station. In the shop, Karen emphasizes local artwork like jewelry, art glass, handmade soaps and even carved decoys. She has imported linens, handcrafted ceramics from Spain, Poland, Portugal and Mexico as well as Mexican glassware and Polish art glass. This year they’ve added toys, glassware and hand-woven throws made in the U.S.A. Spry Creek is named after a deepwater creek just north of the shop where local fishermen used to keep their boats and a couple of local crabbers still do. 1122 Corolla Village Road / 252.453.0199

Whalehead Club Museum Shop – After touring the house and grounds (see Attractions) visit the Museum Shop. The shop showcases the talents of both local and regional artists who create handmade treasures related to the property. For example, you’ll find custom crafted jewelry and ornaments made from the original copper roof shingles, circa 1925. While browsing, you will also find a selection of hand-carved decoys, beautiful paintings, photos and prints. Also enjoy books on hunting, waterfowl and Outer Banks lore. Got kids? You’ll find plenty for them—from real working pirate telescopes and compasses to books, games and puzzles. For the rest of your family and friends, choose from Art Nouveau and Tiffany-inspired puzzles, notecards and bookmarks as well as Whalehead Club logo items including canvas tote bags, T-shirts, hats, coffee mugs and other souvenirs. Your purchases help save history as all proceeds support ongoing preservation of the Whalehead Club. The Museum Shop is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 1100 Club Road, Currituck Heritage Park / 252.453.9040
