Foodie Friday: Taste it Tuesday at Tommy’s Natural Foods Market

Share

Today’s Foodie Friday is featuring “Taste it Tuesday” at Tommy’s Natural Foods Market. Man that was a mouthful! (Literally) Foodie-Friday-Corolla Classic Vacations   Every Tuesday from mid-May through September, Tommy’s Natural Foods Market in Duck set up stations around the store for people to taste. Everything from salsa, to chocolate, to wine and beer free for the tasting from 2-7pm.   I heard about Taste it Tuesday a few weeks ago but didn’t have a chance to go until last week. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if fit into my “Foodie Friday” category. After all, it’s a grocery- not a restaurant. Even as I walked in to the Tommy’s I thought I might just stay a minute, maybe pick up a good bottle of wine, and be done.   Then I met Fancy Nancy from Fancy Nancy's Gourmet Foods and everything changed! Nancy had a station set up with simmering sauces, tortellini and croutons soaked in her award winning dressing. She asked if I wanted to taste a sample and then we started talking about her product. She makes all of her products using fresh, all-natural ingredients and you can taste the difference. Once she had told us about her delicious products, Nancy asked where we were from. When I told her we were local and that I was looking for something interesting to share with our guests, she insisted on getting Tommy’s owner, Lucinda.   From there, my husband and I received a tour of the market and heard the inspiration behind it all. You see, Tommy’s Market isn’t just a market specializing in natural food. They carry products from all over the world and everything has a story. We started with their display of products that are helping people make better lives in countries that aren’t as lucky as ours. They have scarfs the provide education and stability to Afghans, a bar of soap that provides another bar of soap to people in need and a notebook with paper made from elephant poo (talk about organic!). Foodie-Friday-Corolla Classic Vacations   As we made our way through the aisles, Lucinda shared story after story about the products in the store. She could tell us why she chose each item.  They each have a few common themes though. They are all made from natural ingredients and they are all taste good!   Here are a few more of their bragging points:   Tommy’s is the only Certified Angus Beef provider on the Outer Banks. They have fresh local and wild American seafood Boar’s Head Deli Meats and Sandwiches Fresh baked bread, pastries and pies A huge selection of Wine and Microbrews Gluten Free, Non-GMO, Organic and Fair Trade products Groceries-To-Go that can be ordered online Catering Apps and dinner to go   Foodie-Friday-Corolla Classic Vacations Make sure you stop by Tommy's Natural Foods Market on your way into Corolla and I'll bet you will want to stop by on your way home too!
