Getting to Know Us: A Little About Me, Mallory

Share

First of all, I am not a writer and I don't have a background in marketing. I was a teacher before I started at Corolla Classic Vacations last summer.  What started as a summer job turned into much more and I decided to stay with the company. I began posting on Facebook in the fall and have had so much fun watching our page grow! I love sharing the beauty of the Outer Banks with everyone. I was born and raised on the Outer Banks. I am one of the few true OBXers around and I am so proud of that! I spent my summers on the beach. Every.Single.Day. When I was old enough to drive, my friends and I would even spend nights out on the beach hanging out; walking and talking. I grew up seeing the beauty of sunsets, driving past the lighthouses and I even went to school right across from the birthplace of aviation. A lot of people might think I took that for granted and maybe I did as a young child. But the older I get, the more I appreciate how amazing the Outer Banks truly is. After high school, I went away to college. While there I met a boy, got married and started my family. We lived a few hours inland. While I was happy with my life, I knew it was missing something: the beach. So after the birth of our first son my husband and I decided to move home. It must be true that absence makes the heart grow fonder. When I came back, everything was even better than before. That might have something to do with age, but I think it had more to do with the fact that I had been other places and I know, even more so, that the Outer Banks is a special place. I get to take my sunrise runs along the beach, take my son to The Wright Brothers National Memorial and race to the top, and see the wild horses whenever I feel like it. I graduated high school at the site where The Lost Colony settled, got married on the beautiful beaches and I get to watch the sunsets on top of the tallest natural sand dunes on the east coast, Jockey's Ridge. I feel so lucky to live here and I also feel lucky to  share the beauty with all of you. Over the winter, I began planning my blogs. First I thought about what I love to do here, then I thought about what I like to do on vacations. I plan to show you all of the Outer Banks from the unique history to the places where you can seek adventure and from the natural beauty to the secret hideaways. I hope you enjoy reading about all of the things to do.  I know I will enjoy sharing them with you!
